Qi Gong- Introduction
Tuesday 7.30-8.45pm 6 weeks
Tutor: Brian Lynch
Zhineng Qigong
Qi gong (pronounced ‘chee gong’) is an ancient Chinese practice which helps to develop and balance the life energy (qi). It consists of synchronised movement, breathing and meditation and is designed to enhance health, balance emotions, and calm the mind. Zhineng Qigong is a modern school of qi gong which was developed in the 1980s by Grandmaster Pang He Ming. Practiced regularly, it makes joints more supple, strengthens
the muscles and improves balance and coordination. Zhineng Qigong simplifies the classic forms of Qigong so than anyone can benefit from its
practice. It has been designated by the Chinese government as the most effective of all health qi gongs.
In this introductory course, you will learn the first Zhineng form which is called ‘Lift Qi Up Pour Qi Down’. It is a moving meditation which will enhance the flow of qi into and throughout the body.
You will also learn some gentle warm up exercises, a breathing technique to enhance energy
flow, la qi (how to open and close your energy), and a standing meditation.
Below you can see Chinese master Lin Wang perform it.
